Truckstop
Hello all, In the mood to listen to some new metal bands up and coming in the UK. Any suggestions? I'll be wanting to support the scene and buy music so anything that's available on iTunes preferred please. Cheers!
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Mmm. I'm a metal head, and doubt if there's much out there, so I'll be looking at this thread closely. iTunes ? Why not spotify? If you really like something, I'm sure you'll do itunes anyway .

redbandit599
There's lots of new bands, and almost as many sub-genres these days. Maybe some idea of what sort of stuff you like? For instance some people would call Motley Crue metal (I call them sh*te btw) . Saw Savage Messiah supporting Amon Amarth recently, damn fine gig. Might be worth trawling through the lower stage line ups for Download etc. I think that Youtube is a good resource too as I've often found myself going off on a trail of videos that I didn't know. Last tip, not new, but if you haven't heard much Mastodon, then that's worth a shout Crack the Skye is epic.
redbandit599
Sorry just twigged the UK bit - strike Mastodon and Amon Amarth, but Savage Mesiah still fit!
Number6
I hear there's a new Venom album out.....any good?
happynoj
What sort of stuff are you already into? Check out the lineups at 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent - should be all British bands. Not all are metal, but some stuff might fit the bill.

tony_m
If your taste is for "classic" / NWOBHM-style metal, then Ascalon might just fit the bill. Here's a description I've nicked from a live review... Preston based Ascalon take the stage next and they’ve brought a good following with them. Old school heavy metal in the vein of Iron Maiden is the order of the day here but with a modern thrashier twist. They deliver it well and inject a good bit of humour along with their catchy melodies. Clearly having fun, the band run through their set, bantering with the fans and coming across as genuinely nice people. It’s infectious and they go down a storm. Special kudos goes to the guitarist with the broken arm. It’s the perfect warm up for tonight’s headliners and after their set closes they join the rest of the crowd to enjoy…… (the headliners) Here's a vid from that same gig.. https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be And yes, that is a Fender Musicmaster the bass player's using - sounded pretty darn good when I saw them supporting Evil Blizzard last year. Don't think they're on iTunes, but they do have a Bandcamp page... https://ascalon.bandcamp.com/releases And here they are on FB... https://www.facebook.com/Ascalonmetal

Cameronj279
Just going to list a few UK Metal bands that I enjoy, most of these aren't really 'new' but still worth mentioning. Monuments Tesseract Aliases Sikth Sithu Aye (happy metal!) Red Seas Fire The Safety Fire Colours to Shame Heart of a Coward Idiom In search of sun (more hard rock but very good nonetheless) Skyharbour Koralis The colour line Slice the Cake (kind of uk) Taken by the Tide (our own dreadbass plays with em) There's more but can't think of any off the top of my head. RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Voodoo six were really good supporting winery dogs last year.unfortunately, Mr.vox( Bruce forsyths grandson) quit because of health reasons.
Truckstop
I like chug, breakdowns, death, groove, blasts and djent. As much screaming as possible, I find clean/sung vocals very unsatisfying in more extreme metal. Not a massive fan of thrash, solos or hardcore. Thanks for that list Cameron, familiar with most of them but will look up the rest later! Thanks, all
KingBollock
On the Doomy side there's Serpent Venom. Their bass player is a proper lovely bloke. http://serpentvenom.bandcamp.com/album/of-things-seen-unseen Then, for something a bit harsher, there's Piss Viper. My wife works with the drummer and went to their first ever gig a couple of weeks ago. http://pissviper.bandcamp.com/releases And the wonderfully noisy Oaf. The bass player is Dom Lawson, the music journalist, and another top bloke. http://oafmusic.bandcamp.com I'll mention Beholder, too, the band that Piss Viper were supporting. They're from my old town and I played with their old guitarist, who now produces their albums instead, in my first ever proper band. https://beholderuk.wordpress.com Edited March 17, 2015 by KingBollock

Graham
You might like Anaal Nathrakh who are one of my favourite bands, apocalyptic black metal/grind. The new Behemoth record - The Satanist - is a belter I'd give that a spin, some good bass playing on there too. If you're into doom, Electric Wizard and Conan are spectacular. ead
There's a guy on here called Dread Bass who plays in a couple of metal bands, sorry can't remember the names but they're in his sig.
CamdenRob
I haven't listened to any new metal for about 10 years so all my stuff is miles out of date...
