TheBadger
My Dad bought this 74/75 J bass in the late 80's then passed it down to me about 10 year ago. So it's been in the family a long time. But one thing we've never fully figured out is, what's the deal with the pickups? Original or Replaced? If replaced, what are they? To be honest we've never really looked into it. I asked the first time I took it in for service, but didnt get a straight answer. Can anyone tell me what they are? Cheers Kieran EDIT: sorry for the upside pictures. Silly phone!! Edited March 19, 2015 by TheBadger
Lozz196
DiMarzios were the main replacement pickups people used to use in the 70s by all accounts, and they did/still do make them in white/cream, so reckon that may be a good bet.

iiipopes
Yes, those look like DiMarzios - it is not uncommon for a mid-'70's J-bass pickup to fail. In the '80's you could not get replacement parts from Fender, so many of us, including me, changed them out for a pair of then-new DiMarzio Model J pickups. Great, ballsy, growly, rockin' pickups. I had to do this with the '75 J-bass I used to own. If you like the way the bass sounds, there is nothing wrong with keeping it in its current state.
