1970
Wanted one of these for so long, but prices seemed a bit high and they were always in the US... found a nice chap in South Africa who did me a deal. John Schoen
Congratulations, it is a beauty. How does it play and how does the neck feel? Is it like a Precision or more like a Jazz neck?
madshadows
That is an amazing looking bass, the pickguard is fantastic, congrats on the terrific purchase John
Bassassin
Very nice, looks in great condition. Nice to see one with an intact headstock! Jon.
PlungerModerno
That's a minty Eagle. Very nice
lowregisterhead
Lovely. Are those Rotosound TruBass you've got it strung with?
Thump
Oooo thats all kinds of nice! Love the jazz shape and the maple board as well. Does the upper horn not get intrusive? it looks kinda close to the body for easy upper fret access.
Cameronj279
I'm not normally one for older (or traditional) type basses but that's a looker! Curious to hear how it sounds too!
1970
It sounds exactly like the first 7 seconds of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J37mp0JJCE Neck is a chunky P shape. Plays like a dream. The headstock has had the typical repair, but I think most of them have this or the piece missing altogether. I don't know what the strings are - they're not nylons... They sound incredible... they are black and they each have a different colour cotton coating thing at the end where they're wound... Anyone know what they are? Upper horn isn't even noticeable when I play it (so far).
