visog
Loving the new wave of semi-acoustic sixes... with the whumpy arch-top attack... Here's John Patitucci with a Yamaha one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrW8QdWZbxY#t=39 And here's Thundercat (disappointingly actually called Steven) tearing it up on an Ibanez one, especially around 2:10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrW8QdWZbxY#t=39 Both look similar kinds of models competing for the same market space... love to know how much? Details anyone? Or what about other makers in this space?
BigRedX
You appear to have posted the same link twice. Do you know if either company are planning on making a 5-string version?
visog
I did post twice but I don't know how? Or how to remove it. AFAIK the Ibanez Artcore is available in a 5.
BigRedX
Can you post the second like again please? AFAICS the 5-string Artcore Bass is short scale. I's want to try one before I actually bought it but have never actually seen one except on the Ibanez site.
alittlebitrobot
I really want a go on that Ibanez one. My problem with Thundercat is that I just want to hear him play guitar. What he plays can be really nice but that kind of stuff on bass, to me, always sounds muddy and fudgey and other unhelpfully vague adjectives. Like this thumpy, fretty nonsense https://youtu.be/EVmdh8Utdn0t=2m23s Still an interesting, lovely-looking bass and they both sound pretty unique. EssentialTension
I'm not usually very keen on that style of bass playing. I tend to think 'get a guitar', but I liked the Thundercat stuff.
visog
Here's a good shot of that lovely Ibanez Artcore six for Thundercat: http://www.bassplayer.com/artists/1171/watch-thundercat-perform-tron-song-live-video/51046
Annoying Twit
They're massive. Who was it that posted on another thread that they are 6'4" and that small basses look funny on them? They need one of these.
Sonic_Groove
Neither of them seem to be available anywhere -- Can't even find them on the Manufactures' web-sites! Love to try one B

It looked great in the flesh but I didn't get the chance to try it.
