I think that's the key here. Personally I would just start with something catchy and well known and give it a funky/blues arrangement.

I've always wanted to play I Can't Go For That by Hall & Oates and Never Too Much by Luther Vandross. Both are already funky and would sound cool with some blues flavour!

Hi Paul.
You're bang on the money there buddy. I'm looking for ideas for better known songs to cover, we have sufficient material to cover the Blues side of things.
Love the Darryl's House version of that song Bud, it's epic !!
