AndyTravis
A few basses for sale threads I've been looking at have had this post... "Could you get a price on shipping to Ireland please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks." But I've seen othe countries instead of Ireland Has anyone else seen these, am I wrong for jumping to a negative conclusion?
icastle
IBAN is an acronym for International Bank Account Number. All it does is add a few extra digits to the sort code and account number to ensure the transfer goes to a bank in the right country, they're pretty standard in foreign transfers these days. AndyTravis
1st post was from a roscoe 5 string. I know IBAN is a international bank transfer number; I've used them previously This... "Could you get a price on shipping to Germany please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks." Different username on a Modulus Flea
molan
IBAN and Swift/Bic codes are very common requests for international currency transfers. We supply them all the time for shop sales.

AndyTravis
I know what they are 😂!!! I'm saying it's odd that 2 users, from different nations having the exact (except country) wording on desirable basses in a short space of time. Also, I'd ask a shipping price on the forum, but mention my intention to pay via bank transfer via PM. If nobody else thinks this is odd, I'll get back to polishing my tinfoil hat 😄

bgmttt
The buyer is just asking for price quoted in Euro, because GBP/EUR rate is very dynamic.... Nothing odd I think...

[/quote] We got to the bottom of it, the posts were the same but from genuine users, safe to assume that one saw the question and copied it to save anything being lost in translation. No harm no foul, just a coincidence.

Happens all the time on eBay and it always amuses me how easy it is to spot if you take 5 minutes to check. And it wouldn't be the first time it's happened on BC either..... icastle
It was just the specific wording used. Andy spotted two ads from two different members with exactly the same wording: "Could you get a price on shipping to Ireland please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks" "Could you get a price on shipping to Germany please. And give me a €uro price, as I'll be doing an IBAN transfer in Euro. Thanks" It's definitely two different members so we reckon it was just a copy and paste of that request to make sure nothing got lost in translation. HowieBass
This'll probably sound like overkill but I presume you've confirmed the members posts came from different IP addresses which originated from the right countries?
