Rainchek
Hi all, my name is Andrew, I'm 48 and took up learning the bass about 9 months ago. I had never played a musical instrument before I started (except for 5 mins with a bugel when in the Boys Brigade as a kid), but I think I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it. At the moment I have no intention of ever being any more than a very amature bedroom bassist, but never say never. Probably just as wel, l as even though I may think I have a piece sorted, as soon as the other half walks in the room, it all goes horribly wrong. I am currently using a Squier Mustang with an Ashdown Tourbus 15 (I think) amp. String wise I'm having a bit of fun experimenting with Rotosound 77s. But will probably go back to tapewounds. I had D'addario black nylons - loved the tone, but a bit to flexible for me (maybe just need to practice more). Cheers Andrew

molan
Gigged in Woking at the Bed Bar not that long ago. Bit of an odd venue for a band but actually quite fun Pop over to our shop any time if you want to natter about bass stuff, always happy to help and zero pressure to spend money
lowregisterhead
Welcome Andrew, from one Woking resident to another (well, just outside). This forum is a fabulous resource, just watch out when perusing the 'Basses For Sale' section - you'll want to buy everything! Or maybe that's just me... Rainchek
Molan - Thanks for the offer, I feel in a bit of weird place at the moment, in that I think I've got to get a bit better / more confident playing before I can really appreciate having lessons. If that makes sense. Lowregisterhead - not just you I'm sure.
