Many old churches are being used as alternative venues but the sound in them is not generally kind to bands
so volume is key...
Forget any loud acts completely

Completely agree, however, the sound in Cottiers is actually excellent. It's a theatre really and I think it's had work done to sort out acoustics. We had an excellent, top quality PA, which sounded tremendous. There was a horn section a few tracks and low whistle and bouzouki in others and they were clear as a bell!

The Pitcher and Piano in Nottingham is my old school church converted into a pub. It's a lovely building and the sound Has always been great when I have been (no need for reverb though ;)

I played there in a five piece band through a nice 2k logic pa and it was awesome!.
