badboy1984 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 yeah man I don't think I can buy another bass so if I buy one, one have to go. I'm using my 4 string P/J bass more these days and I needed a 5 string. Make sense to get rid of the jazz for a 5. Quote
benh Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Great review. In fact I've just ordered a black Alder 5er on the strength of this! Can't wait! Quote

UglyDog Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 That's what I'm getting! And according to the tracker, it's being delivered today -- so excited I can barely sit still Quote

They seem very good value from Mark's review, looks like a versatile tone circuit too. Quote
badboy1984 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 These Marcus Miller bass is getting hot man. I remember seeing Marcus interview about these basses and he said he make sure these bass don't get bad rep because his name is on the bass. I'm sure they are quality bass and sound quality too. Quote
Twincam Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Great review and lovely bass, the only thing that would stop me getting one is the height of the knobs. Quote
UglyDog Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 The knob height is something I'm going to try to address, as is neatening the wiring (judging by the pics, it could do with it). I'm a bit anal like that Quote
CamdenRob Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) I've always had issues with knob height... Edited April 1, 2015 by CamdenRob Quote
ColinB Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Why did I click on this thread? I was perfectly happy with my basses and now you've gone and done this!! White, tort, bound r/w with blocks, side-dots I can actually see, active.... and MrsB's just had her annual bonus. Jeez! p.s. Great review *sigh* Quote
...the only thing that would stop me getting one is the height of the knobs.
Seriously though, I think that's something that could easily be fixed with affordable replacements. The picture I took of the knob-gap (fnarr) does tend to make the gap look bigger than it actually is. In normal use you don't see it. Edited April 1, 2015 by discreet Quote
badboy1984 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I need to stop going on this thread ...... my jazz is not selling so no 5 string sire for me =.= Quote
Marvin Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 The height of the tone and volume controls isn't really an issue. It's not something that shouts out when you're playing the bass. (yeah! I didn't use the word knob...damn, I just did...stupid brain) Quote

dave_bass5 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) Just a heads up to those getting these basses, they are long. This might not effect most people but i know it has been a slight inconvenience to some, including me. The bass is longer than my 35" Laklands, and any other bass ive owned. Ive had to get a new gig bag to fit my V7 in, it just wouldn't fit my usual bag. Luckily ive also got a couple of official bags coming from Sire as well soon :-) Edited April 1, 2015 by dave_bass5 Quote
