Paul S Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Copperhead Road. Good old country stomp, which I would have thought was a bit left of field. But, then again, it was in Bishops Stortford. Quote
paul_5 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden. \m/ \m/ Quote

tauzero Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 "Kayleigh", I think. "Don't speak" went down well too. One which has surprised us with the response we've had is "One of us" by Joan Osborne, played slightly faster than the original. Quote
lurksalot Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 We have found that Kayleigh bombed , tried it a number of times aswell , the Jam stuff goes down quite well but yes..
I think it was probably Sweet Home Alabama or 500 Miles on Friday, it was that sort of band and that sort of venue
They both got them properly bouncing , even though we only 'jam' 500 miles , oh and Bryan Adams every time Quote
Adrenochrome Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Hallowed Be Thy Name, a big closer. Creeping Death and Blackbird (Alter Bridge) went down very well, in fact everything got a positive reaction, just one of those nights Quote
Bigjas Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Shout - Lulu, this is consistently our number that goes down best. We have just started playing Ed Sheran - Thinking out Loud, this is getting a very good reception with a lot of couples getting up for a slow dance ....... Jas Quote
BILL POSTERS Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Regularly either Wooly Bully, Blockbuster or Great Balls of Fire. One of ems nearly always the last number. Maybe the audience are glad to see we're finished. Quote
Woodinblack Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Turning japanese. And eton rifles I guess. Quote
DaytonaRik Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Either The Boys are Back in Town or Whiskey in the Jar, but to be fair the entire set went down well...like the real ale! Quote
gadgie Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Jet - Gonna be my girl. Was always a fav and floor filler Quote
ColinB Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 "The Grease Mega-mix" and "Sweet Caroline" went down very well....... and "YMCA". Quote
lowhand_mike Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 sex on fire obviously, Alive by Pearl Jam goes down rather well and I Predict a Riot. Quote

leschirons Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Some good stuff mentioned there. I intend to suggest "You gotta fight for your right to party" to whip up a little excitement. Anyone here already do it? Quote
UglyDog Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015
uptown funk
Me too. Quote
FuNkShUi Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 (edited)
Me too.
Same. We also get a great recption for our "80s cheese" section, consisting of * Gold - Spandau Ballet * Hold The Line - Toto * Dont You Want Me Baby - Human League We always try to take a few requests whenever we book in a wedding. These were chosen for one wedding and we dreaded playing them. They had the best reception of the night, and have continued on in that trend. We feel like we cant drop them now! Edited March 30, 2015 by FuNkShUi Quote
drTStingray Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Flip Flop and Fly - at breakneck speed with walking bass part, strident brass and harmonica parts and Ott solos - strangely I can sing harmonies on this without screwing up the bass part. Also close to the response - Tainted Love - hybrid rockabilly cum Soft Cell version - goes down a storm possibly because everyone in the audience knows the words and can bawl them out after a few (especially women)!! stuckinthepod Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Dakota but also pleasingly Children of the Grave! Quote
Adrenochrome Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015
...also pleasingly Children of the Grave!
Nice, 'Gravy' as I call it, was our penultimate song. Our lead guitarist sings it so gives lead vox/2nd guitar dude a little break before hitting the high notes. Quote
synthaside Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) I think this is VERY crowd / place dependent we try to recon a place a bit before we set our mind on a set. For our recent gig to a bunch or 20-30 something media types the biggest hitter was, a song i did not expect. Its All been done before - Barenaked ladies , annoying as my band force me to take lead vocals on it. whereas i normally get to avoid having a mic at all. Apparently i'm a vocal doppelganger. >.< its a killer on the voice . We did a bit of a late 90's early 00's bit at our last gig , this followed by a googoo dolls double of iris and slide and finishing with Everlong by the foo's Edited March 30, 2015 by synthaside Quote
LemonCello Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Just tossed in Come up and see me - Steve Harley which seems to go down a treat! Quote
gelfin Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 All right now. But I don't think any one here would like what we've done to it. Quote
