timmo Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 When playing to a metronome, do you count the first beat. So click 1, click 2, click 3, click 4. Or is it click, Click 1, click 2 , click 3, click 4 ? Quote
Drax Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I run it on half BPM, and hear it on beats 2 and 4 Quote
timmo Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 ahh, that would make it seem easier to count.thanks for that Quote
paul_5 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015
I run it on half BPM, and hear it on beats 2 and 4
This. What's also useful is to set it to click as beats 1, 2, 3 &4, then play semiquavers (so a slow tempo is best) and use the 'click' on the first of the 4 semiquavers, then play with it on the 2, 3 and 4. Bit of a head-melt, but a GREAT technical exercise... Quote

tinyd Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I usually go with 2 & 4 as others have said, but sometimes just on 4 can be nice as this forces you to concentrate a bit more on timing. I tend to play walking bass lines so this might not be as applicable to other styles. Quote
