[/quote]Just what I was thinking, I had one and I seem to remember the more rounded and slightly larger shape.
I wouldn't even say that the tuners have been upgraded, they look the same to me.

Rookie mistake on the neck plate, they start the screws at the same place so heads are as close lined up as possible, got lazy on the 3rd screw.

i was told by a Fender rep that Fender do not make a genuine neck for any of their guitars with a plain trussrod hole, all genuine necks with the truss rod adjuster at the headstock end with have some kind of different wood insert
