Paul S
Some will know this. Sadly I know very little about the internal trickery of amps - they are magic boxes which, when I press buttons and turn knobs, make variable noises. I have recently acquired an Eden WT300B amp. This has a valve preamp. Sent via courier. I switched it on, started playing through it and it sounds very nice indeed. Nice and easy - everything at 12 o'clock gives me a gorgeous warm valve-y tone that I think I will like very much. But then after about 10 minutes the volume faded and there was an accompanying crackling noise. Then the volume comes back, then fades and crackles again. Etc. I've tried a different bass and different lead and it still happens, so it is definitely the amp. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks!! BassBod
No idea - but try changing the valve as a first step, or at least check it isn't loose after transit.
Paul S
Thanks for your reply mr Bod. I'll have a go at that over the weekend - a spare valve came with it - also a few other things I'll try out too whilst the bonnet is up. All a bit of a learning curve! Would could possibly go wrong? Paul S
Well, I changed the valve, cleaned all the pots - no difference. Changed the kettle lead - the problem seems to have stopped.
