Hipshot de-tuner on Ibanez SR

Treated myself to a hipshot GB7 de-tuner for my SR600. Fitting it was dead easy and it works a treat. it's not ended up at exactly the same angle as the original but is near enough.
Made myself a cup of tea and had it fitted along with a new set of strings and was jamming along with my iPad before the tea went cold!
Not cheap but very useful when you get a few seconds notice to play something in drop d!

Did you have any issues with the string capstan being a lot shorter than the original machine head ?? I had one and could only get almost one wind / wrap of the string around it once fitted.

I have an Ibanez SR 700 Bass and I am trying to put on the GB7 Bass Xtender Hipshot D-Drop and it almost fits but touches the other tuning peg.  To me it seems like if we made the holes a little wider where in insert the tuning peg it might fit.

 

Has anyone had this issue and what is the fix for this?
