My son has got me and him tickets to see Eric Clapton at the RAH in May.
His 70th. birthday celebration gigs apparently.
The last time I saw Mr Clapton live in the UK was at the same venue, Creams farewell concert 26th. November 1968.
This is likely to be an interesting night out.

It should be a good night. What is weird, is that if you click to buy a ticket on Ticketmaster, it directs you to a partner site for inflated tickets for sale. Why are they not getting done for touting?

Nice one.

I last saw EC live at the RH in the 90's.

The first time was at a club in Cowley, near Uxbridge, playing with John Mayall. Just before the Beano album came out.

Mine was the RGS Christmas do in High Wycombe when he was with Mayall, 1965.
A drummer mate of mine took a photo of Eric doing his own roadying, carrying his Les Paul in one hand and his Marshall combo in the other.
The drummer mate still has the photo which he will not publish.
Miserable git. :dash1:
"Have You Heard?" was absolutely stunning.

In Liverpool for John Mayall's 70th Birthday Concert, along with Mick Taylor and the incredible Buddy Whittington: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOpxFe2_gns

Yep. He's been great for always, but for that time in the Bluesbreakers EC's playing was stunning.

And you got to hear John McVie as well. You just knew you were watching something special.

It's sad that they didn't record a live album at that time.

I love his playing with a Gibson but hate it on a Fender. I loathe that Strat tone he gets.

Tend to agree with you but I have not heard EC play a Strat live, only recordings.
It'll be nice if he does a Gibbo for a song or two in May if only for me to hear the difference live.
