DarkHeart Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 dont do it, WD40 will attract dust to your pot like fly`s round a honey pot, use circuit board cleaner. Quote

Mr Arkadin Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 On the synth forums they always recommend definitely not using WD40 for pots and sliders and to use Caig DeOxit instead. Not easy to come by in the shops but Amazon and eBay have it. Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 +1 on the Servisol switch cleaner. I use it on amps and guitars / basses. Never fails. I call it magic spray! Sorts stiff knobs aswell. Quote
Roger2611 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I use DeOxit, it is fantastic stuff...i read somewhere a top guitar tech was asked "if you were only allowed one bit of kit, what would it be" he replied instantly "DeOxit" it's not cheap but I have had my can for about 5 or 6 years so on a yearly investment about £1.50 a year it's not bad value Quote

steve-bbb Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 crackly pots are most likely due to either dirt on the tracks or the tracks being damaged wd40 will just loosen/dissolve and dirt stuck on the tracks so may provide a temp fix - if it continues then it most likely will be damaged track on the pot and hence time for replacement Quote

[/quote] Sounds like the fabled military cure for certain afflictions - mere though brings tears to the eyes. A pull through used to be 4" x 2" these days is a less eye watering 45mm x 45mm Edited April 6, 2015 by 3below Quote
