PeteS Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I am currently using a 210MBE with the MB500, but want a bit more volume. So, what's a good cab to pair up with the MB500? Cheers, Pete Quote
Lozz196 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I used Schroeder cabs with my MB500 and MB Fusion 500 and found them to be a very good pairing. Schroeders are very powerful, but do have a low-mid "hump". This of course can be eq-d out. I also used the MB500 with an Ampeg SVT410HE and that was very nice too. Quote
discreet Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Agree with Lozz, I use a 4-ohm Schroeder 21012L with my G-K MB500 Fusion and it's very good indeed, though this cab has far less of a 'mid-hump' than the 1212L I had previously. It's always worth having a look at the Barefaced Bass website too. Quote
bouns Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 IMHO the GK heads sound better with GK cabs. It's only a matter of taste. did you try a GK 212 neo? I really enjoyed this cab as a stand alone, even under 8 ohms. Quote
molan Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Check out onehappybunny's recent post - he tried the MB800 recently and was looking for some new cabs Quote
onehappybunny Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I liked both the TKS 112's and Berg CN112's with the GK MB's. Two of these would be pretty loud. TKS more of a mid's / high mid's bump, Bergs more low mids bump, but both EQ'able with the powerful GK MB EQ. Both do other options if you need more volume. Schroeder and Barefaced also well worth a look, as mentioned above. I went for the 2 x TKS S112 in the end, balancing cost, portability, quality, volume etc. Quote
BanditSid Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 The GK Neo 410 cab is a great match with my MB800, I'd imagine it would be just as good with the 500 too. Quote
Si600 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm using a GK MB212 with my 500 Fusion, I've only used it with that though so I can't say whether it's the best cab for ithe. I like it though. Quote
TorturedSaints Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I use my MB500 with a Barefaced Super Twin. I've only used it at a couple of rehearsals and it is way too loud (in the best sort of way) for rock drummer/guitarist vocalist! :-) Very clear and punchy. Far better than my previous cab (Peavey 410TVX) with the MB500. Quote
40hz Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) I believe they were suggested to be paired up with the MBE series cabs, of which I have the MBE-II 4x10 version. Neo speakers, 800watt power handling, super light and compact dimensions with more punch than any cab I've experienced to date. Really hits like a hammer. The cab definitely has that signature aggressive presence that GK are famed for. Edited April 9, 2015 by 40hz Quote

Musashimonkey Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Sounds good with two Berg 112's and sounds GREAT with my Big Baby 2 from Barefaced! Loving the GK mb range! Quote
funkle Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Berg CN112s x2 or Berg CN212 or Vanderkley 112MNTs x2 or Vanderkley 112EXT x2. Hope you have your wallet handy... Quote
