Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 So after much deliberation i have treated myself to a MIM Precision in Arctic White and Maple with a Fender fitted case. Now here is the confession.....this is my first P since i've played bass 😮 Anyway i am very pleased with it and gave it a thorough look over and play before deciding it was the one. Obviously knowing that the Mex construction sometimes comes in for criticism i am really impressed with the quality, fit n fix and the set up. I also got a fantastic deal at the DV247 store in Romford with the bass and case bought at a great price 😉 They also had a good selection of basses (mostly Fender) available to try. A 3 year guarantee too 👍 Anyway i'm happy ☺ Quote
discreet Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) Congratulations! Excellent taste - you can't beat a white/maple P Bass. Glad you like it - you'll find it really comes into its own in concert. Edited April 7, 2015 by discreet Quote
ezbass Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Congrats, that maple on white just looks so right. Quote
Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Thank you all the colour combination is really good i'm pleased 👍 I just weighed it and it's just over 9 1/2 pounds so i might need to tone up the muscles a bit and eat me spinach. Quote
jezzaboy Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Nice colour combo but it needs a black pickgaurd (Runs for cover!) Quote
discreet Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015
Nice colour combo but it needs a black pickgaurd
I can't help but agree. But all-white is good too. Even tort would be acceptable in this situation (gasp). Quote
Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Must admit i might try a tort pg.....😮 Quote
theyellowcar Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015
Must admit i might try a tort pg.....😮
Do it! All pickguard debate aside, congrats on your new bass. The stuff coming out of Mexico at the moment is a cut above what it used to be (and above the rep it still carries as a result!) As discreet has already pointed out, this will really come into its own in a rehearsal/gig situation. You'll kick yourself for not buying a P sooner Quote
Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 My aim is to make this my main gigging bass although i have Yamaha TRBX 305 too but not a bad working pair of basses those imo Thanks for all the comments guys Quote

Billy Apple Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Lovely. Whatever you do, don't put a tort guard on this. It would be wrong. Tort only goes with Rosewood. This is not just my opinion, but an indisputable fact. If you do anything you need a black one. Another fact. Quote
Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Haha.....you can't beat a pickguard debate. I may just keep it white but go pearlescent Quote

mcnach Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Nice bass, and welcome to Precision land I'm also a recent convert white/white/maple is classy. Black pickguard is also great, but the current combination is a winner... just don't go tort, please! Quote
Number6 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Hahaha.....i think ultimately it'll stay as it is, what with me be quite a lazy bassist an all Quote

Pearl is an abomination which must be resisted. And for the record, you CAN have tort with maple. Sometimes. A 3-ply b/w/b guard might be a good future purchase, though. Two basses for the price of one... Quote

Number6 Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Do the modern Fender white finishes still yellow over time? Edited April 14, 2015 by Number6 Quote
