Chiliwailer Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) I'm not GAS'ing for one, but I was pretty chuffed to see the new Journeyman / Postmodern Precison/Jazz hybrid basses recently added to the 2015 Custom Shop models. At the start of the year I was disappointed that there weren't any NOS or modern-ish models added, but this one fits the bill nicely. Luckily for me and my wallet I prefer wide P necks and have no complaints about my Lull (only because im now used to that damn headstock). But I thought there may be some interest from fellow BC'ers... http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/custom-shop/basses/precision-bass/postmodern-nos-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/ Edited April 9, 2015 by Chiliwailer Quote
discreet Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Precision body with a Jazz neck..? So the worst of both worlds, then. That Olympic White version looks a bit grey to me... Quote

EliasMooseblaster Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Erm...it's a good-looking enough bass, I guess (though I agree about the white!), but I'm at a loss for what qualifies it as "Postmodern." Quote
Yeah, i had to look that one up. I wouldn guess it's something about it being a classic design yet updated and a departure from modernism - which could be a reference to the amount of Relics out there?!! Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Excellent work, chaps. Now at least, if I buy one, I will have a good explanation if my mother asks about the name:
Yeah, i had to look that one up. Because the sort of people who talk about stuff being "postmodern" are the same sort of people who like to do everything "ironically." So perhaps the irony is that these basses aren't actually NOS after all. (Except this would be a correct use of the term "irony," whilst the aforementioned t***pots tend to completely misunderstand the term when they use it. Ironically enough.) Quote
BigRedX Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Where's the new stuff? All I can see is a bunch of J and P basses... Quote

Not like Fender to repackage the same old basses with some sentimental marketing hyperbole. Quote

wateroftyne Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Fender are just coming out with daft stuff these days. I'm sick of waiting for a decent PJ with blocks, so I've ordered a custom build from Maruszczyk for MIM money. Quote
Lozz196 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Agree, blocks are severely lacking on Fenders at the moment. Quote

I'll start it off with 'there hasn't been a real Fender since Jan 1965 so we've all been duped, discuss....' Quote
