Other than the Drophead comes with a 10 inch speaker, and costs £200 more, the only difference i can see is that the standalone comes with 1 x ECC83 pre amp valve, and the drophead comes with 2 x 12ax7 pre amp valves. Is there any advantage in the drophead having 2x preamp valves?

I'd be very surprised if the Drophead version of the CTM 15 head is any different to the standalone head. I suspect that it's a typo, but would recommend checking with Ashdown to be sure.

I have emailed Ashdown, so waiting for the response. Every bit of info i can find, including Ashdown`s website states the spec, but i guess, the stores are just cutting and pasting from them

I got the answer from Ashdown, and this is it. So not really much the wiser. This was the question
I am looking at buying one of these very soon. Just a question about them please. What is the advantages of the drophead with Pre-Amp Tubes 2 x 12ax7, against the CTM 15 1 x ECC83 pre amp valve?
There is no advantage as such.. They are just different amps.. Mainly personal preference..

love the ctm-15 its got a much more treble based sound due to the smaller size, but this is ime based from also playing the ctm-100

the 15 sounds really nice, depending on your bass tho will depend wither you will actually be able to get a clean bass tone.

Sounds like the one with the extra 12ax7 may be an all valve amp as opposed to the 'standard' ctm15 which (as discussed on here) is actually a hybrid with a solid state pre amp?

Unfortunately I can't see any additional tube on the photos. I'm afraid Mark answered rapidly and thought that you are asking about dp30 vs ctm15
