In a good or bad way?!

Oh crap! That was a vague statement wasn't it.. I meant In a good way. Haven't tried to sell it, it's got some magic in there. I have been on the verge of selling it a few times because it threatens my more expensive limelight P bass.

My memory of the 80s is that Tokai was the brand that finally pushed Fender into the arms of Japanese manufacturers. I think the first Squires are actually re-bedged Tokais. In other words, 80s Tokais are actually early MIJ Fenders.
Fender Japan was from the greco factory - not tokai

I bought a Tokai Hardpuncher ltd. edition a few years ago off ebay on a whim, it is a fine bass now strung with flats. I sometimes miss the lack of contour and wish I had bought a normal Tokai p-bass. I don't think I can ever sell it because I would regret it too much (sold a Rickenbacker years ago and have regretted it ever since), and it is hard to find another one like it.

Great basses you have Glorihanah and nick :)

That's lush - a re-imagined slab-body Precision!

I'd love one. Way back in the day my guitarist friend bought a Tokia Stat (springy sound?) about 1984 red with maple neck, he sold it many years ago for I can't remember what.
I bought a Squier Precision again in red maple & still have it, but a HP I feel maybe would've been the business.
