Jazzneck
Coffee table basses, bling, pointy jobbies, any more than two control knobs (except Stingrays), any more than four strings, asymmetric lower bouts. brand new and not run in. No apologies - I'm an old git and I knows what I like.

BigRedX
TBH I don't think anything individual is a deal breaker for me. Right now I would't buy a bass that wan't a 5 string but that's only because I wouldn't be able to use it in my current band so it would be a bit pointless to own. There are few design features such as non-angled headstocks and bolt-on necks with less than 24 frets that would make me pause, but if the bass looks good and plays and sounds right to me then I would buy it. RhysP
Oil or wax finished necks & bodies. I wouldn't even consider a bass with these. Sunburst finishes are a bit of a no-no for me too.
