JTUK
It is easy to work out by ear... and it gives you a nice little turn-round and then stacks the forths which is what you can use when the gtr wants a 12 bar.. That will get his attention. Use it as a stepping stone for ghost note technique AND a way to jazz up a standard 12. Piano players will get it in one...if they are reasonably musically educated, but way too many gtrs wont so it is a nice little thing to have in the bag and make them think you know a bit.. paul_5
Slowly, and a couple of bars at a time. Groove is most definitely king of that tune!
SpaceChick
Just think, you'll have another feather in your cap when you nail it! Try not to get too cooped up practicing but stay henthusiatic

SpaceChick
My hubby suggests you poach some tips from people. It'll get you out if your shell. Better than scrambling around trying to work it out yourself.

ras52
If you want to play to a thigh standard, I suggest you put in the leg-work and find a good teacher to help to keep abreast of the top players. Or you could just wing it.

acidbass
Just seen The Chicken appear on a setlist for the first time today. Gig is on 16th May. The lineup is bass/drums/lead/rhythm. My approach will be to just run with the changes and elaborate when there is a space in the music. I am not and will never be Jaco!

Cairobill
Learn this tune. It will become a feather in your cap and soon you'll be able to crow about it.

phil.c60
Pluck your bass gently and do't try too hard and end up wringing it's neck.

basstorius
Drop D is the ticket. You can play the riff an octave lower.

Grangur
Here's a good version from a young man in East Yorkshire. He was 13 a few weeks ago when he posted it on Scotts Bass Lessons forum. https://vimeo.com/123636071 The fingering is nice and easy to follow. ras52
We've had quite a run of them recently, haven't we? Approaching the chicken, polishing (was it polishing) the pilchard, humping Shell's combo...
