bassface2k10
Is there any chance that the ‘basses for sale’ section on the forum could be split into sub sections, for example Fender Warwick Ibanez Lakland Sandberg Custom and so one This would make the section a lot easier to navigate, It'll be easier to locate a bass the user may be looking for, reduce the need for sellers to bump their adverts every few days (which sometimes are off the 1st page within hours), and finally lightening the load on your database :-) Good idea? dannybuoy
I say that's a bad idea - first, where do you draw the line as there are tons of brands? I'd rather browse one forum than have to click on twelve if I'm just window shopping, and if I want something specific there is the search feature. Cameronj279
I'd agree with Dannybouy to be honest. The way it is just now means it's easy enough to go through all the basses for sale without switching between many. And I'm sure there would be a lot if ones posted in the wrong section as well as do Fender Custom Shops, go into Fender or Custom? Its easy enough to do a search for what you're looking for IMO

GrammeFriday
I agree with Dannybuoy, for all the reasons he suggests. And I like the serendipity of looking through a random jumble of brands - it broadens the mind, I find. (It also makes you GAS for even more stuff, however, which may not be such a good thing!) timmo
If there is sub sections, i would rather it be done on price. 0-£500, £501-£1000, £1001-£1500,£1501-£50000 for example. If you divide all the basses into Fenders, etc, then you could miss a bargain that you hadn`t originally thought about,
bassface2k10
Thats a good idea Timmo.
Billy Apple
Just use the search bar. Type in Fodera and there you go

chris_b
No, it's fine as it is. Also if you split the sales ads up by price what do you do when the price is reduced and that drops the gear into a different section?

Les
I think any subdivisions would be a major hassle for the mods. I'd like to see the price of the item in the headline, that would be enough for me.
r16ktx
+1 for no subdivisions on the basis of where would it end? I.e. sub sub-divisions, sub-sub-subdivisions and so on where I could filter by model, price, scale length, colour, weight, etc. That sort of thing requires specialist software and much time and effort
wateroftyne
The less subdivisions the better. Use search.
alyctes
I like the browsing aspect, and I am all in favour of reducing the mods' workload. Keep it as it is.

The ideal solution would be the ability to add searchable attributes such as model, number of strings, colour, etc, and have them as drop down selections under search, much like eBay. Drax
Every site out there is moving away to free text search, would be a backward step for BC to start dividing listings. Filters are a non starter. You'd either need to parse the ads, or fill in a form at posting. It would take BC beyond the £20 listing sub, and it would break. Massive headache! Thunderbird
I think it is a good idea but not practical as I think the MODS have enough to do as it is it would be a full time job to put everything in specific categories
Woodinblack
Filters so you could remove sold listings from just old listings would be good.

bassface2k10
A little bit of digging around threw up this extension http://community.invisionpower.com/files/file/4037-classifieds/?page=2 and this as an example of it in action, parts are ugley but not beyond some hacking of the CSS :-) https://www.pro-bike.ro/forums/classifieds/category/14-motocross-trial/?sort_key=price&sort_order=desc
