monkey_dancer Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I'd been wanting a fretless for quite a while but could never find any in shops, so on saturday when I found myself relatively nearby I took the chance to bassdirect and ended up leaving with this! I tried some cool basses there but this was something else entirely. The metal fingerboard plays and sounds great, and looks pretty snazzy too for good measure. Very good craftmanship all round, it's really solid, feels nice and balances well. The pickups/preamp seem very nice, haven't been able to try it loud but I like what I hear so far. Action was already set up well but if it ever needed changing the bridge has a very good adjustment system. Closeup of the neck with new Labella flats on: Definitely the nicest bass guitar I've ever had, it makes my others feel like toys with how solid and it feels. I can't get anything done because all I want to do is play! Quote
monkey_dancer Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Yeah! It's beautiful, normally black basses don't do it for me but with the gold hardware and fingerboard... Quote
HowieBass Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 That'll look impressive under stage lights Quote
Bass_Guardian Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 That is awesome! I'll have to confiscate this off you for legal reasons Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 There's something you don't see every day! I've always loved the look of the Excess, never tried one though. Quote
monkey_dancer Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 I'd seriously recommend trying one if you get the chance, I could not be more impressed with the general quality and playability. Quote
