The very fact that there are venues/promoters who think that music should be provided for free and feed performers no sustenance other than BS about what great "exposure" it'll be if they play their gig is why this article exists. If you can't (or won't) understand that, then you've clearly never experienced it. That's great for you, but spare a thought for others who have gone through what feels like a bruising haggling session just to squeeze a drop of fuel money out of these tight fisted so and sos.

Actually, my thanks for the heads-up to Scoobystig for posting this info about the unpaid brewery gig.

Following a brief consultation with the new band, we'll be giving it a go. Ideal 'no pressure' run-out for some new material after the summer hiatus.

In all fairness , we occasionally do the Chester Charity beer festival , not paid , but free ale all night , proper sound rig and engineer, lights and a crowd of 600 make it a great occasion , I am purely participating in the beverage consumption this year as I missed the invitation ' tweet' , modern communication eh .
