For sale this early Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius tribute jazz bass, made in the Custom Shop in 2003. Probably the best fretless ever made by Fender. This bass is all stock except for the neck pick-up, that was replaced at some point. The one installed now sounds absolutely vintage and blends perfectly with the original one at the bridge. The body cavities have been professionally shielded so this Jazz bass is as silent as single coils can be. Actually the most silent passive bass I've had. Shielding can be easily removed if for some odd reason you want your bass to be noisy.

I am rubbish at playing fretless (that's why I sell this bass), but the neck, feel and tone of this bass are amazing.

Do you have the custom shop certificate for this bass?

I couldn't see it in the photos.

No, the COA disappeared at some point of the history of this bass, as is often the case. The body and neck all show the official stamps ("JACO", date stamps with the correct dates and the engraved "RELIC" stamp). Also an enquiry was sent to the Fender CS and the serial number corresponds to exactly this model and dates. And of course it "feels" like a Custom Shop Fender.
