CamdenRob Posted May 5, 2015 Share Posted May 5, 2015 I'm looking for a compressor for basic home recording duties, but I want something that runs on batteries so I can just grab it plug in and go. I liked the look of both the Diamond and the Empress but neither run on batteries. I've been through the obligitory compressor resource http://www.ovnilab.com/ but it's not clear what runs on batteries and what doesn't. Any recomendations? uncle psychosis Posted May 5, 2015 Share Posted May 5, 2015 I would continue to use ovnilab to pick a compressor you do like the sound/look of and then google the spec to find out if it takes batteries. molan Posted May 5, 2015 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Demeter Compulator is a fine, musical, compressor that works on a 9v battery. I ran a test yesterday of the Aguilar TLC vs Demeter vs Diamond. I really like all three of these and they all do slightly different things in slightly different ways. The Aguilar runs on a 9v battery as well. Lozz196 Posted May 5, 2015 Share Posted May 5, 2015 At the LBGS I tried an Aguilar TLC and was very impressed with it. Probably had a lot to do with the guys on the stand explaining it all properly to me, but I told them what I was looking for and they just set it up instantly to do what I wanted.
