stoo
I've recently had surgery on my back for a herniated disc. I don't think my current cabs were that much of a contributing factor, but I am on doctors orders to carry as little weight as possible, so I'm currently thinking about diverting some of the money I was intending to spend on a more comfortable car towards some decent, light cabs. I'm currently using a Stingray and EBMM SUB into a GK MB500 into some Bill Fitzmaurice designed cabs - a 2x10 Omni 10 and a 1x10 Omni 10.5. I don't think I've ever needed more out-and-out volume than the 2x10 can provide, but having the 1x10 on top helps get it into my ears (I'm 6'3" and not good enough to get much chance to play on big stages!) So far the two favourite contenders seem to be the BB2 and F112. Both similar price. Both look to be more than up to the job soundwise. BB2 looks to be lighter, but the F112 can be used as a wedge so potentially nicer for small stage setups? Anyone used both and able to offer any advice on which way to go? Or suggest something else I've not considered yet? Edited June 13, 2015 by stoo
stoo
Oops - title should read fearless F112, not fearful...
acidbass
I guess TKS is considered in the same bracket as the cabs you mentioned - although it is quite a bit cheaper. Personally, I use Barefaced and love it.
MOSCOWBASS
I've only used the BB2, sticking a wedge under the front of the cab gets the sound to you ears when you're standing right next to it.
alexclaber
The F112 uses the same woofer as (and a similar midrange driver to) those in our previous Gen 2 Big Baby model, so that's a useful comparison. Billy Apple
Check out the TKS 1126T. Awesome sounding one hand lift cab.
alexclaber
And the TKS 1126 also uses the same woofer as the fEarful/fEarless 12"s and as we used to use.
I used to own a Gen 2 Big Baby, and didn't get on with it at all. Lots of lows and volume, but I wasn't keen on the way it sounded. I now own a Big Baby 2, and am still slightly baffled by how amazing it is.
Ghost_Bass
Getting the sound at ear level shouldn't be a problem, use one of these: They're very handy and light. charic
Maybe I should put my 6x10 on one of those

Musashimonkey
I use a BF BB2 Gen3, and am delighted with it. Some people pop them up on a stand or a chair I've heard, not sure if Alex would agree with that acoustically. I've never needed to as the sound dispersion is very good, but I'm only 5'11" (and 3/4's!)
stoo
Well, the votes have been counted, and the winner is...... staying in their boxes because the girlfriend is coming round with her pooch tonight and I'm not taking any chances until the covers have arrived Cheers for all your help! stoo
Finally had some time to get em unboxed and set up. It's been a while since I've had a TV - this is about the right ratio for screen to speakers, yeah? Sounds pretty good with a bass through it too - was a bit worried about a weird rattling sound when I turned it up, but I'm pretty sure it's the room! odysseus
BF all the way. Just got me a Super Midget yesterday for smaller gigs and used it last night - it kicks out bass like a boss and weighs very little. A mate of mine has the Super Compact and that shakes his house - maybe that would do it for you? Should cover all bases (fnar!!) for average sized gigs... Just looked at the Big Baby and yeah, that looks great too. Decisions... aargh!! Edited June 13, 2015 by odysseus
