Dom in Dorset Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 They fiddled with the knobs and it sounds great! I loaned it out to a friend who runs a "Dub Club" for use by a visiting band, I couldn't make it that night so I don't know who. I used it tonight and it sounds great , good bass but with a bit more Rickesque grow (I played a jazz)l, my tone pot (on the bass)seems to give me more range of tones too. I haven't had a chance to look carefully at what they did but I think (s)he's taken some of the mid out. Quote
lowregisterhead Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 That's always the chance you take... lend some gear out, and it comes back sounding better. Result! Quote
sblueplanet Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Ha! Was expecting the story to end with a bang! Quote
+1 I thought this was going to end with the expensive blue smoke - and some hurt feelings. Glad to hear it still works, and long may it do so. Quote
blue Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Cool Story, I have a steadfast rule on loaning out any of my gear; "No" Blue Quote
Bilbo Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I always take out the mid-range. Bass on 8, Treble on 9, mid on 2 - tweaked to deal with the room. Of course, everyone talks about my sound. Everyone. Quote

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Cool! I often guessed the settings in rehearsal rooms , due to time issues and dodgy equipment. When I let another guy use my trace Elliott at a gig , he did me a favour. The favour being, totally inaudible in the video that was shot of the gig, leading me to sell the heavy piece of s@it and get a much better amp and sound . Quote
paulears Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I just remembered I leant a keyboard to a friend in 2002, and they've never given it back! They're also a heavy smoker, so all things considered, they can keep it! Quote
LITTLEWING Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I loaned a newfound musician mate a 100 watt Orange valve guitar amp in the mid '80s as he didn't own a decent one and he moved house suddenly. Never found out where he went. Somewhere out there I still actually own a classic amp worth a few pretty pennies..... Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015
take a photo of the settings on your phone
Wise piece of advice there. Quote
Dom in Dorset Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Sadly my phone is too old to take a useful picture but I will write them down. Quote
