Will pop up a pic, if I can find out how ! Got some quite unusual Trace Amps, as well. Will get pics of them ,as well. Having a sort out at work, finding things I forgot I had !ee Heaven . PaulWarning
the output transistors (mosfets) have just packed up on my SMX GP12 AH250, been quoted £135 does that sound reasonable?
DiMarco
Gah. It beats the Mesa. Except for the HORRIBLE pre-shape circuit which I named "suckmode". Edited December 22, 2017 by DiMarco

Sounds steep to me. I had one fully serviced and repaired (don't ask me what) for about £40. Tech is retired though and just does it as a favour to other musicians - shops will have a different attitude I suspect.

I hope you're on the ground floor... As far as google is concerned, around 43kg for the combo, and Mick knows how much that 1x15 wedge weighs About 20kg Mick ?? Funny - i dont live on the ground floor ( 2nd floor apartment ) but we do have a lift. Bonus ! Edited December 22, 2017 by fleabag

If this is any kind of gauge for you, the two switches on my combo, the shape and graphic, needed replacing. Apparently they do give up the ghost on TE amps I also wanted to keep the original TE green switch buttons , but transferring them to the new switches behind the buttons was a right faff, but the tech managed it in the end. He also did a service and PAT test. This all cost me about £100. He wasn't a friend - this is his business But the TE combo is singing nicely Edited December 22, 2017 by fleabag

fleabag
Must admit, i do love the sound. Personal i suppose, some hate it. But since our band quit after 6 years, and now i;m just home recording with a gitwrist, it sits in my spare bedroom when i fancy a pluck ( matron )

Mmm yes, but from what I've read on this forum, and by who posted it, I suspect I'd likely be a fan... being a clean heft aficionado, the TE philosophy could suit me well. Something tells me Trace will be part of my life in 2018... *taps finger on side of nose*
fleabag
You can get old TE's to growl as well, you know. Just kick it in the nuts and watch that ' clean ' disappear
