mikhay77 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010
The V6 sounds a bit more "smoother" than the V8. The V6 is more a "Bluesman", while the V8 is more a "Rocker". Both amps got a lot of growl, and sounds perfect. I think, the V6 is more a allrounder...
Cheers for that, not many people are in the position to compare so appreciate that.Only problem is,I play rock so the V8 is the one.Oh well, one day, lol.Mind you,V6 and trace 4x12 on ebay at mo,damn what can I sell! Ha ha. Quote
disssa Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The Sound of the V6 alway be clean. The V8 got a overdrive-channel, which can be activatet by a push-pull-poti. Quote

sambassman Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 i gots an AH400! its an absolute beast! trace are the best sounding amps in my opinion Quote
Count Bassie Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Just picked up for a song locally here in the US. Small and powerful, looking for an 1153 to put under it. Quote

It and a cab are going to be my whole rig for a while, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. Quote

zbigniew Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 BLX 130 I just recently traded away a lovely BLX 130, 'suppose it doesn't do any harm posting it here I already regret letting it go but I needed more wattage and couldn't keep both amps. z Quote

AduneMoon Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) Heres mine might not be the same as the older stuff, but it's still green and pretty mean =P. Edited November 10, 2010 by AduneMoon Quote

Maybe the TE stuff has its own character... we shall see! Thanks. Quote
BobTheBassist Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 The head I'm very proud of. The cab is actually sort of a project for me. The 15 in the bottom I designed (with some help admittedly) and built myself. It's got a flat frequency responce down to about 18hz and up to about 400. At the moment I'm working on a nid range cab with 2x8" tweeters and a compression horn to take it from 375ish to 1Khz. Then just 3x either 4" or 6" for the high pass. At the moment the 15 is connected only to the 500w without any crossover the plan is for the other 2 cabs to run of the 2 x 250W mid and high pass. The reason for all this fuss instead of buying stuff from Trace (and beleive me it's not that I think I can do a better job ). The head would normally be way out of my budget and I got lucky. I'm keeping it for the day I can afford something to really do it justice. Untill then I shall continue my lesson in loud speaker design. Oh and by the way don't you just love that with bass you can talk about 8" tweeters. Quote
ogrimark Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 shame i cannot get all of them working but it is all balanced a bit precariously and a bit of over keen bouncing on the stage would probably have it all on top of me. would be cool though. if anyone decided to donate either a TE 500 or 400 head as a xmas prezzie i would use it gently..... mikhay77 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010
Forgot about the trace porn thread, just posted it on show us your rig. Here's mine, moved on some other trace gear so now this is my main gigging rig 1048h+trace 4x8+ ah500 12 smx.It is simply brilliant, the condition and sound of this rig is fantastic, nice highs due to 4x8 but not too harsh due to not much horn used (ooh err) All driven by a classic 500watt trace head with pre valve, mint.Stick my Neuser cloudburst or Bilodeau (left) custom Jazz or Aria SB through it and takes them all to a higher level.A fellow bass player buddy but a double bass through it on saturday,ha he is hooked.
Just added one of these to my collection, what I cant understand is,why the hell I didnt buy one of these years ago. Just sooo much more tonal range than the AH500 12,and thats a fantastic amp too but this has it all, simple to use 3 band eq with adjustable mid shift but its really active in use, lovely rounded tone and wouldnt call it warm but from deep lows too really great highs its crisp and punchy, amazing 6 GE kt88s and 4 vintage mullard 12ax7s,a sound you just cant get from a tranny amp or emulator, add that to a trace 300w 1x15 and 1048h and now I am not gonna look any further.I am a valve convert....... maybe a V8 ??????????? borisbrain Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 After a quick whizz through, I didn't see any of these, so here goes: Nice and friendly (and thumpingly loud) AH200 Series 6 GP12 with 1153, but also with a 2103x - a super cab with loads of range (but at 31Kg, not a lightweight) For a while I thought the head was done for, but after a £60 service it's serving me well again. Dark, rich. Mmmmaybe there's not enough mid presence though... anyhow I'm picking up a 1048 this week to go with the 1153. I'll post about it after the New Year's gig. Quote
