Sometimes use this for some smaller gigs,sounds great in a pub enviroment,trace blx 150 and trace 4x8 240watt ,small,not too heavy and really cuts through the mix.Ideal for depping,can get this in my supra,unlike the V6,1048h and trace 1x15.ha ha.

Can I ask what that weighs ?

It's an amazing looking rig :).

Here's my old AH250 that I bought new in 1987, I loved it while I had it but I'm happy to never carry that beast up another flight of stairs.

Here's a shot of it's sexy bag and the fish sticker which helped complete the aquarium illusion.

This is the newest addition to the rig... found a 1048 localy for $100. Needs a few screws for attaching the grille properly and I had to reset one of the port tubes with some construction adhesive. Loaded with Celestions, this with the 1153 is a very nice, clear, punchy sound. The soundman at our gig last night was very happy with it- which makes life easier at any large production!

Unfortunately the 715-S combo is gone... life forces pragmatism.

AH250SMX;
1153-T;
1048...

Coming soon, the old MK IV comes out of the shop in a week or so. I found a kid in Providence (neaby) who loves old amps, fixes and mods them. He was pretty psyched to see the beastie, so I'm looking forward to plugging it in. I originally got that for $100 too, last spring. And that one's got a UV light, so it'll be fun for the Portuguese trad gigs... there's an audience that loves a little glitz in their night out...

My new amp!

Trace Elliot GP12SMX racked with my Korg DTR2000 tuner and run through my Marshall JCM800 4x12 and 2x15 cabinets. Sounds absolutely fantastic!

It's got a Mesa Boogie 12AX7 tube in the pre-amp which just sounds naughty when the bias is turned from solid state to all valve. Nom nom nom.
Me like it! I had to turn the EQ balance to all treble when testing it in my garage as the 2x15 started moving things off the walls... yeah... quite bassy :)

This is still flapping my trousers, but not for much longer I'm afraid. Old age and Arthritis are making it more difficult to carry from the van into gigs. :)

(and NO! they aren't my E.Q. settings. My Son knocked the sliders with his arm when he stuck the amp on top of the stack to help me out.) :)
I have a second rig that i haven't used yet as I bought it intending to use it with the Rock band but we aren't due to play until boxing night.

Its a 1984 1110 combo that was modded by Trace to allow an 8ohm cab to be used with it and you can also connect a speaker lead to another input to use it as a 4x10" cab

This is the same head I have- coming back from the shop at the end of the week. Do you know the model# of it as a standalone head? Is it just an AH250 GP-11?

Mine (been posted before around here to the point of obnoxious redundancy):

I've been mistakenly calling my AH250 a "MK IV". It doesn't say MK IV on it, and I'd never heard of one before. I made it up! But there doesn't seem to be any other model name beyond AH250, and there are a lot of those. And I think it's an earlier model than the MK V. Anyway, pardon my confusion... :)
green is good. hasn't nasa just found a green blob somewhere out there? bass rig heaven no doubt. i wonder if my old rig is up there. i like to think so.
Oh yeah- there's a quasar nearby that is no longer- only the light is still running through that cloud. Likely pushing gas around and forming planets, I'm hearing. Planets where life will form, evolve, and eventually build bass amps with UV-lit green-lettered front panels... unless it's Rock n' Roll Heaven... where your rig is keeping company with my old SVT.

So it is... alright then! Thanks Mikhay77. It's just gotten repaired, but I have to wait 'till nes\xt week to get it out of the shop. Weather has made it a slow work week, so I'm busted! Something to look forward to anyway. I'll post when it comes home and goes back to work!

Here's my Trace Elliot Series 6 GP7 715S combo. And my cat.

Built in 1991 I think, owned by me since around 1995. Just bought myself a Markbass/Aguilar rig, so soon to be listed in the For Sale forum. (The amp, not the cat.)

I have some older Trace stuff, but you know most of that already, like the pre-MK V GP11 or the AH250 heads to go with that. But I never seen another one of these:

The PP33 offers three parametric bands of EQ for bass, mid and treble, each with frequency, cut/boost and q-factor. If you turn the q-factor all the way counter-clockwise on bass and treble they become shelving filters. Clever, huh? It also sports the mandatory pre-shape switch.

There´s no date anywhere on this unit but I think TE didn´t offer the PPs long. Serial number is 2119.

That is the deal right there. I would love that kind of simple control in a pre. I wonder why these good ideas that come from solid thinking don't stay in place? I want that with a power section. And a uv light! Lol!
This is a super rare piece of Trace kit....These date to about 1979 and from what I know we're only offered as a prototype and it was later in 1979 that Trace GP11 Mk1 pre amp appeared ...... and thats we're our obsessions all began !! :) :lol:
So this is sort of like the fertile crescent! :) Oooooohhh...

I just got my MK IV Trace head back from the shop, and boy do I like this amp! Probably the best-sounding solid-state head I've ever owned/played. It's actually right up there with my old Blue-Line SVT... different, yes, but the 'top-shelf quality' thing is right there with it.

So now I'm selling my AH250SMX:

...which seems to have consistent, small issues. I tend to obsess on that kind of thing and it ends up clogging my head! I'll be using my trusty old GK 400RB as rehearsal and back-up head. Fine, I like that one too.

Don't get me wrong, I like the SMX! It's got great engineering and very useful features, though it does push the limit for me on 'Bells and Whistles'... but it just keeps 'coughing', a little, once in a while, and I have to bring it back to the bench. I'm thinking it's perhaps not made of the same solid stuff that the MK IV is. But boy howdy, I do dig my MK IV. Played it jamming with a drummer after getting it back last weekend through a rugged old 1048 cab. Monster.

I'm all done for amps now- I'm kind of thinking this old TE tank will never die. After being around for 27 years, +/-, all it's apparently ever needed has been a uv bulb and a new starter for it. Never seen the likes of it. I'm a believer- in the old stuff! Sometimes, newer isn't better.
