Annoying Twit Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 (edited) My mind boggles at the thought of playing one of these. Wouldn't intonation be much more difficult than a standard fretless with the fanned lack of frets? Edited May 7, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote
Annoying Twit Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 (edited) I googled 9 string fretless bass. Here's a better picture of it. Edited May 7, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote
Myke Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Surely it can't be fanned fret if it has no frets! That is just ridiculously crazy! Quote
Annoying Twit Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015
I take it the search for 9 strings continues
It's not that serious a search, but I'd like one some day. Not that I have any real need for one, but I would like one. Hence me not going out and spending £3000 or whatever on one. Quote
Happy Jack Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I think you have now redefined "A solution in search of a problem.". Quote

Telebass Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Perhaps "multi-scale fretless" describes it more accurately. I would describe it as "ugh". Quote

Naga Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I've got one, a 6 strings. I've never had such a good intonation before. It is a blast to play, very easy as the left hand falls in place perfectly wherever you are on the fretboard. Fanned frets is something wonderful for fretless instruments. Quote
Kev Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I struggle with a lined fretless. That, well that's just crazy. Quote
Matte_black Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I think that as long as it's lined (or has at least a few dots here and there) you'd be fine. Quote
