Hi!
I'm thinking of getting this bass but I'm not sure about the price, its unknown builder and age (maybe hungarian), has maple top back and sides
the seller wants 2400 euros, worth it?

Blimey, that looks tasty. It's got handmade written all over it, and I don't just mean the scroll. Italian proportions - surely it's not by Luciano Golia?

Only you can decide if it's worth the money. It looks quite petite and pretty, but the paint job doesn't do it for me. It looks like a fairly recent instrument. Are you sure it's a maple top, as that's unusual (normally spruce).

Yes, it certainly looks lovely :)
But as others have said, only you can decide on whether it's worth the price
especially as you can't identify the maker

But most importantly of all, you really should play it first
Give it a good try-out, just to make sure
a). It's a good quality instrument
B). It is worth the money
c). It's right for you

Good luck anyhow
and let us know what you decide :)

It looks nice from the photos, but hard to tell without seeing it in person. Maybe if you're a first-time DB buyer you could ask a player with some experience to come with you? Worth even getting in touch with a local DB player who is a stranger to you and asking for advice - can save you lots of hassle and make sure you get a good instrument.

It would be worth paying a good luthier to try it out and give you a professional opinion. If you can find out the maker's name, post it here and you should get some global intelligence on the value and quality.
