I've always used Duracell Procells in my basses, never ever had any problems. These have now been replaced
with the yellow and black Duracell 'Industrial' range, again still good.
Have a dig around on ebay and you can find 10 packs of them for around £8 delivered, job done.

+1 for Procell - recently rebranded as Duracell Industrial. Get them from Babz Media on eBay for best price and fastest delivery. Here's the 10 for £8 pack, http://www.ebay.co.u...L-/150518690146

Rechargeable for me.
Guitarist argued with me that they don't last as long.
I know that but you can, erm, recharge them.

Everything that uses PP3s gets a Procell (or whatever they're called now) fitted. In the past I've had upwards of two years out of them in my Shuker. Now I change them in all my active basses every year whether they need it or not.

Need two batteries for my Marcus Miller jazz and was wondering if any basschatters have any preferences regarding longevity and value for money.
Any bargains out there ?

Duracell.
The batteries last long enough that differences in price with cheaper ones are meaningless. I go for reliability. And don't buy the cheap ones on eBay.

Rechargeables. It's not much influence on world ecology, I know, but drop by drop, an ocean is filled. My recharger is a small solar panel, too. It's been decades since I last bought (or threw out...) a battery.

Same for me - I always have one pack in my gig bag (for emergencies) and another pack at home

i would also like to add that if you have a loose pp3 battery in your bag it is a very good idea to a bit of non insulating tape over the ends as there is a small chance they could come into contact with metal and may cause a small fire or damage to stuff

Just to show I'm trying to fit in on this forum I'll take my turn at wearing the pedantic tw@t hat. Putting insulating tape over the terminals would be more advisable than using the suggested 'non insulting'.

Right, someone elses turn to wear the PT hat.

A 'non-insulting' tape..? Would that be like a zen chill-out cassette..? Are you suffering from insolation..? It's not insulting to insulate oneself from the run of the forum. A terminal post, maybe; short, at least. I'm shocked.

one night I had removed a battery from a pedal and put it temporarily in my pocket... and forgot about it. After soundcheck we go to find some place to have dinner and during the meal I notice a discomfort in my pants... and I jump out yelling!
The battery made the coins in my pocket extremely warm!!! Fortunately I avoided a case of roasted nuts...

So, yes... be careful how you store them!

My P bass came with passive batteries which must be the best ever as they last for AGES.
5 years old now and never had to change them yet! 😯
