Marc S Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I've got an Ibanez Electro-acoustic bass, that I absolutely love It sounds a tad different to other bass guitars And feels quite different in many ways.... The deep body, with it's hard edges can tend to "dig" into my forearm a bit But my real problem with it, is when playing finger-style playing There's nowhere to rest my thumb I sometimes use the E string, when playing the other 3 strings and I sometimes use the heel of the neck I don't want to go drilling into the hollow body of this bass It looks superb as it is.... and I don't want to risk ruining it by drilling holes... Anyhow, my question is this; I'm sure I've seen self-adhesive type thumb-rests But can't find any for sale anywhere (I have searched ebay) Anyone know where I can get them? Or should I just get some self-adhesive pads, and stick a thumb-rest on? Cheers Marc Quote
BobVbass Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) make it out of a pen blank like these on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR6.TRC1.A0.H0.Xpen+blank.TRS0&_nkw=pen+blank&_sacat=0 dead easy & you can get some brilliant woods - stick it on with no nails tape Edited May 14, 2015 by BobVbass Quote
Roland Rock Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) There was a Kala on the marketplace wIth little adhesive kidney shaped pads that looked pretty handy Edit, it was the Bass Buddy system https://ubassappreciation.wordpress.com/tag/bass-buddy-thumb-rest-system/ Edited May 14, 2015 by Roland Rock Quote
KiOgon Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 If you want to buy one - try GuyLewis http://www.classicguitarboxes.com/thumb_rests.php but the website or server seems to be down at the mo. Quote
fretmeister Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I don't know if Zero-Mod products do any stick on rests, but it might be worth asking. I have one of their screw on ones that uses the existing scratchplate holes. Quote
