MarkW
Hi guys I know this is a bit of an odd request to post on a bass players forum, but perhaps there's a multi-instrumentalist out there who can help us. Our band has been re-booked for the 2015 Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate from 14-16 July. Unfortunately our drummer's work commitments have changed and he can't make it. We're looking for a dep who can stand in for all three days, and also attend a couple of pre-show rehearsals. We play a variety of covers spanning the last 40 years, from The Rolling Stones to Bruno Mars, via Blondie, G&R, Amy Winehouse, Ian Dury, Bon Jovi, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd - the usual pub band stuff. We're a very easy-going bunch of middle-aged amateurs who just play for the fun of it, and the punters seem to like us. We're not talking mega bucks unfortunately (probably around £200 for the three days) but it'll be bloody good fun. We play in the Black Sheep Brewery tent, and it's usually carnage. If anyone local is interested, wants more information or knows a drummer who might fancy the gig, just send me a PM - we'd be eternally grateful! yorks5stringer
If I was still up in Yorkshire I could have of recommended a number of deps as we used them all the time with Idle Hands but have no idea now who is still on the circuit. However Steve Gibson at Beat It Music Shop in Baildon is a drummer and may know of someone as there are a number of tutors working out of there :01274 599774
tonybassplayer
Try the rockofthenorth Facebook page. Plenty local drummers on there and many of them dep on a regular basis.
Kirky
Steve Gibson, mentioned above, drums in my band and is worth getting in touch with.

MarkW
Thanks folks! The Rock of the North FB page was a great suggestion - we've had half a dozen offers already! Looks as though we should be covered for the gig :-)
tonybassplayer
Pre Facebook pretty much taking over everything the Rock of the North website in Yorkshire was THE place for everything live music related and did huge amounts for many charities some of which I am very proud to have been a part of ( even got to play the famous old Batley Variety Club ). Sadly Steve Lally who ran it passed away through cancer a couple of years ago and although his son Joe still keeps it running Facebook is now so instant that the website is not as prominent as previous. Glad to help you get sorted.
MarkW
It's a fantastic resource for sure! We do a lot of charity gigs (we did one for Macmillan on Friday that raised £17k - mostly donated I suspect to get the bass player off the stage) and I'm hoping to organise something for a young drummers foundation set up in memory of my oldest school friend. I just need to find the time and pull my finger out!
Bassmonkey
Steve was a lovely guy. I miss the old website. Always good to see the occasional fall out between posters/bands/Steve too ha ha ha RIP Steve
tonybassplayer
Yes he was a really nice guy and worked tirelessly on the site. The occasional fall outs did get quite amusing at times too.
