norvegicusbass
I was a massive Queen fan up until about 1977 which is long before I got my first bass so I tended to not listen with any particular attention to JD's basslines instead I just listened to the whole ensemble. However of late I have been rekindling my interest in their early stuff particularly Sheer Heart Attack and was extremely impressed by his playing. He is a phenomenal bassist and surely fits into the category of under rated bassists simply by dint of not appearing in many peoples top ten lists. Flick Of The Wrist aside from being a great song has a wonderful bassline that I really want to learn but the few tabs I have seen so far dont seem very close. Anyone know of a decent tab for this song or sheet music?
Lozz196
No idea re the tab but agree, massively under-rated. I think it`s more down to both Freddie Mercurys voice and Brian Mays guitar really, they really were the focal points of Queen, it`s rare that everyone in a band receives equal attention, and from what I`ve read JD was also quite happy to steer clear of the limelight. The drummer was the vocalist.

MacDaddy that YT link is great as you are able to alter it speed and view exactly what he is playing however your second link doesnt seem to show anything but a random selection of YT videos. rjs1909
John Deacon was certainly underrated. His bass lines were always tasteful, melodic and perfect for the song being played.
Delberthot
We've been asked to play You're My Best Friend for a wedding in two weeks. I hadn't really paid close attention to it before but stumbled across the isolated bass track and it's not even close to what I would've played had I not heard it. I had never been so excited to get to a rehearsal as I was tonight to play it. Fantastic bass line. I still rate Queen as one of my favourite bands and JD as one of my favourite bass players. There's loads of gems from Millionaires Waltz to the run in Dragon Attack to the bass solo in Liar. KingPrawn
He's such a great player. He always appears really humble and grounded. I love the intro to the millionaire waltz. http://youtu.be/cXUkqpPXjuk
