dannybuoy
Just ordered one of these, sounds like a nice tubey OD, tiny footprint and BJF designed so may share some similarities with the Blueberry (sure sounds like it from the demo): http://www.one-control.com/hookers-green-bassmachine.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww1civXp2-I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHTk_xikJqc

dudewheresmybass
They have them in stock at effectspowersupplies / stompbox I had a good try at the bass show, and was pretty impressed. I'm going to go back for further investigation soon Having owned a mad prof blueberry, I didn't see much similarity. To me it seemed like more of a screamer type drive Edited May 18, 2015 by dudewheresmybass
dannybuoy
Wow, ordered from Tonefactor on Saturday night and it's here already! Just did a quick A/B with the Bearfoot Blueberry. They sound VERY close indeed, it's definitely a Honey Bee / Blueberry derivative rather than a screamer-type drive. I think the Blueberry just about edges it though. But only just! Byo
Found this demo of the pedal on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHTk_xikJqc Does it represent the sound and tone that you get with yours? (I could only play it through the little speaker on my work PC).
dannybuoy
I've not tried it with an aggressive active bass yet, so not entirely sure! In my hands the pedal sounds totally different - it is a very dark/warm/tubey sound, much like the Blueberry. I doubt I will be keeping both as they are so similar, after this weekend you might even see this in the classifieds!
Byo
Good to read that it can also do a warm tube sound.
sk8
That's VERY tempting
adamg67
It was very tempting, too tempting for me to resist. I am now the owner of that very Hooker's Green Bassmachine, being a little bit of a geek I had to look up where the name comes from: http://orbisplanis.b...kers-green.html - well, at least now I know when people ask why the f it's called that. It is a really nice little pedal, definitely an overdrive, on low drive it just adds a nice bit of crunch, which sounds good to me - I have a bit of an old fashioned bassy tone, so the slightly dark tone on this pedal fits that really nicely. With the drive up it gets a bit more like those demo videos, but it's a proper *bass* overdrive, the low end does not go missing at all. The instructions were in Japanese, but it's not hard to work out, the hidden extra is the "low" trim pot that you can tweak through a small hole in the side, it's a subtle thing but it seems to control how much low end gets preserved, so I set that to "all of it please". The best bit came when I tried it through the 3leaf Proton envelope filter I got recently, what a combination! I don't know what it is, but those two pedals love each other, with the bassmachine on low to mid drive the the proton tracks and sweeps really well and the overall sound is just gorgeous, not over the top at all, really usable - I've got really high hopes for that in a band setting, which is when you really find out what works obviously. I'll try and get something recorded with it at some point, at least just a quick demo of how I'm using it, won't be in the next week though. Now to see how well it stands up against the COG Knightfall that's in the post, and the wildcard Digitech CM-2 - it seemed silly not to try one given the second hand prices and what people say about them.
