HRZ
Hi All, Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking for information about this bass. I know that it's about 20 odd years old, and in surprisingly good condition, but here my knowledge ends! I've asked my mate Geoffry Oogle if he knows anything about it, but information is sketchy at best. So over to you bass gurus, any info would be gratefully received. cheers
GrammeFriday
A Stagg, maybe? Looks a bit like the BC relay bass.
Bassassin
I remember sitting for hours playing one of these at a mate's party a few years back. Nice playing bass. Anyway, not sure if Maison was a manufacturer or (more likely) an importer's brand, but I remember the name being pretty common in the early 90s, a budget/mid-priced range of decent Korean-made instruments, heavily "inspired" by the popular models of the time. This looks like it owes an awful lot to SGC Nanyo's Bass Collection range (which in turn owes as much to Tune's Bass Maniacs) These pre-date Staggs by a few years. Anyway, these are what it wants to be: Just did a quick Google & there's a Maison fan site! Seems maybe a bit over-enthusiastic... Jon. HRZ
Cheers Jon, That's great, I knew this would be the place to get some decent information on it. Not too sure about the fan site though - might be taking it a bit too far. I just found a guy playing a Maison TB-380 on Youtube, it's exactly the same as mine - that fantastic pink isn't to everyone's taste I guess though. Any guesses to how much it's worth, or should I just post it in the For Sale section? cheers again
DarkHeart
I had a 5 string Maison in the late '90s, active pups, phenolic fingerboard and the only 5 string neck ive ever liked, stupidly swapped it for a fretless at the Bass Place in Newcastle owned by Bassdoc. Cost me £250 at the time and i must say if i could find another the same id buy it.
