Annoying Twit
I like seeing new affordable basses. But, there's something about this one that doesn't quite look right to me. What do others think? http://www.gear4musi...ss-Sunburst/TVG Not nearly as nice looking as the Eastwood Classic 4, IMHO. ahpook
Looks a bit like a Warwick Star bass to me. I quite like it...nicer in black, of course.
Annoying Twit
It does look quite a bit like the star bass. I might just be being fussy, but to me the star bass and Eastwood Classic 4 look 'right' to, me, but the Gear4Music one just doesn't quite look right. Particularly when the Warwick has this finish:
ahpook
I think the smaller headstock on the SubZero makes it look a little unbalanced, but I'd imagine it balances better than the Eastwood.
3below
Staggering price. When you factor in profit at various stages it makes you wonder what it costs to produce ex factory.
Deep Thought
Headstock's a bit modern-looking for the style of bass to my eye. The Eastwood is definitely the better-looking bass to me, although I'm never nuts on symmetrical cutaways, I prefer the slightly asymmetrical shape of the Epiphone Jack Casady. PlungerModerno
Doesn't tell what scale length it is on the website from what I can see. . . that's pretty important. Upon reflection it's not the headstock I'm having trouble with - the fretboard extends at least two frets farther into the body than it should IMO. If there is going to be that many frets, the lower cutaway needs to be deeper to make it look less goofy. Could be a decent bass - but as it's a set neck, I'll not be trusting it! Annoying Twit
There's a b-stock online for £99. But, Gear4Music B-stock items tend to be quite damaged. This one has a loose pickup. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SubZero-Detroit-Semi-Acoustic-Bass-Guitar-Sunburst-FAULTY-RRP-179-99-/351397982289?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item51d0f3b051
