Funky Dunky Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Weird question. I dunno why exactly, but I'm drawn to the idea of a bass with a small body. I gather this concept may go against the principles of resonance etc? But can anyone think of, or recommend, some basses with smaller bodies (not steinbergers though) for me to look into? Quote

Funky Dunky Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Smaller. Rounder. Cheaper. Think Mayones Patriot, then shrink it and knock at least a grand off the ticket. Edited May 23, 2015 by Funky Dunky Quote
Funky Dunky Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Yeah they are but the shape is 'wrong' for this. Rounder. I have a picture in my head. Although don't get me wong, I would gut a puppy for a Schecter. Quote
Funky Dunky Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Forgive my ignorance - are these good basses? Quote
discreet Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Edit: Probably not cheap, I'm thinking. Edited May 23, 2015 by discreet Quote

Bassassin Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Ibanez RB888 or MC888 "Bean" bass. Small bodied variants of the 80s Roadstars & Musicians - if you can find one. Jon. Quote
Cameronj279 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Warwick thumb? Tiny bodies on them. bit of neck dive however the sound makes up for it. Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 My Yamaha BBG4 S11 always feel pretty small when compared against my other basses On the left here compared with a Jazz I used to own Quote
CamdenRob Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015
Cort curbow
I've had a couple of curbows over the years, they're great... Tiny, light and very comfortable with a modern punchy sound. In fact talking about it I think I'd quite like another one. Quote
lojo Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 My hohner B2a can make monster sounds , which begs the question about tone woods and large bodies , think electronics can do it alone Quote
Pinball Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 The Farida HB20 is one of the smallest and lightest that I have played. It also sounds great-a powerful little tyke. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/222095-fs-ft-farida-hb20-hypersonic-series-set-neck-pj-lightweight-cw-farida-hard-case/ Quote
