I know it's probably me , but my Boss RC- 2 is hardly used . I find it 'fiddly '. I got the dual Boss fs foot switch and after messing around with it today, I realise I'm getting impatient with bending down on the floor changing this, that and the other. Old mans syndrome perhaps ??. I do like the drum patterns on there tho''.

Is there a better ,( but not hugely expensive ) alternative? Something rack , rather than pedal ? Or, should I just persevere? I have done loops on it in t he past obviously , but it's forgetting bits when you don't use it often . I am now in the mood to loop often;)
Cheers

I've been using a ditto and a ditto x2 together, different loops on each. Both are great, really great.

I just bought the ultimate which is a looperlative.

Check Thomman, I got mine as B stock from them and saved £50, it was mint.

Akai Headrush, although hard to pick up second hand - eBay auctions are very competitive. These things are solid. You can drive a tank over them amd they won't even blink.

Boomerang Pedal - although I think they're maybe expensive and hard to acquire second hand - but amazing.

I had a Headrush. Great pedal and you get the echo/delay functions as well, but the looper is limited by the short loop time - 24s or 36s depending on settings. I traded up to a Ditto X2, you get 5 minutes loop time there.

Well EHX 360 is another little pedal so probably not what your after Ray but its good fun. I'm using it for playing my own stuff at open mics. I recorded a couple of bass lines in the slots and it's great for a solo set.

It's usable, silent small and has some auto memory slots. It's also doesn't break the bank!.

They recently came down from around the £100 to under 80 so thats a fair price I think.

Note: My problem is the double stomping to stop it while playing guitar and singing as I'm not very confident at any of them. My wife could probably do it better :)

Does the wee Ditto offer 5 minutes of loopage as well?
[/quote]

Yep, the only difference is that the x2 has reverse and half speed effects.

Oh and it can be battery powered too.

Hmm well I'm not going to set the world but I'm working on the theory that someone will hear my songs and want to collaborate-then I can switch to playing bass :)

Anyway I'm sick of bands falling apart for no apparent reason

... And most importantly of all, the x2 has two footswitches, which means you have dedicated 'on' and 'off' controls, which IME makes it way easier to get the timing of your loops spot on.

Yep, that's how mine is set. You use the one little switch to select the function of the one footswitch, it either operates the effects, or as an off button. Mine is set as an off, I don't really use the effects.

Yes, it is. More than makes up for it taking up more pedalboard space than the mini version does.

The Ditto also lets you save and download loops onto a PC or Mac.

I like the Ditto's simple operation, some of the others are rather complicated to use, (I've found anyway, but I'm not really into techie stuff, so that may just be me) :).
