WITHDRAWN Fender Japan '66 Jazz Bass (2013 limited ed), mint, OW, matching headstock
£750

This is a barely played Fender Japan JB66B Jazz Bass, one of a limited number exported to Europe in 2013 (it was a domestic-only model at the time). No more being made due to Fender Japan's sudden defunctness.

Gorgeous looking thing in Olympic white with matching headstock and blocks-and-binding rosewood board. Solid Japanese construction quality. Purists would presumably want to replace the tuners with lollipops and get a less horrid-looking scratchplate.

I could never get on with the neck myself, cos it's a bit chunky up the dusty end and I like 'em skinny. But if you're into vintage profiles, or one of them who feels more drawn to P-bass necks, this could be your baby. I got Bernie Goodfellow to set it up with dinky light little strings (Ernie Ball 40-90s) but it's still not for me.

Cost a grand new through Thomann back in the day. It didn't come with a gig bag, but I'll throw in a rudimentary one and make sure it's bubble wrapped like crazy for postage. You're also welcome to come try it out (Hove nr Brighton) and take it away.

I'm asking £750, which I reckon is good value for something that is sadly now quite hard to come by in this neck of the woods.

Talk to me about delivery if that's what you prefer. Sorry to overseas members, but for reasons of paranoia and hassle I'm not willing to post this outside the UK.

Do please ask me stuff. Edited by nige1968

Right, asking stuff.
Deliriously good looking bass.
Don't get excited, my Dee Dee would have to sell (although I did put it up for another reason )

Just in case though, what's the actual weight of this, as many of us know some Japanese Fenders can be a tad weighty.

Good luck regardless,
cheers,
Karl.

I make it 4.2kg / 9.25lb.

Thanks for that, nice weight for a Japanese.

You are right, mine is a nice P, but sadly it's the modern C profile with 41.6mm nut width, or I'd be badgering you to give you £200 plus my P for your jazz. But we both know the neck isn't for you, even if you were considering any trades.

That jazz of yours is just stunning, if my P goes.............

Good luck anyway.

Thanks! And likewise.

Should have said, regarding trades -- can't rule them out completely but I'm looking for funds, really.

Ah well, thanks for your interest.

Should point out to anyone else pondering the vast distance between themselves and this bass, that Brighton is lovely at this time of year :)

⬆️

(Small error: colour is 'Vintage White' which is possibly slightly creamier than the usual Olympic. Or possibly not. B*****ed if I can tell the difference.)

hi, no shipment to italy then?

Thanks for your interest -- I'm really sorry I just can't face the logistics, expense and general stress of posting large, valuable stuff overseas. Hope that's understandable.

GAK's demo video of this model.

Remind me why I'm selling? Oh yeah, skint.

(any advice on how to embed that vid?)

Sorry for the huge delay in replying-- love the old Squiers and not a day goes by I don't regret selling mine for £100 in 1987. But my P-bass needs are all met and the wolf is quite literally at the door, so must decline. Thanks for your interest tho and good luck with the sale

I have one of these also and they are simply amazing. Super rare and sounds incredible. I will never sell mine.

Good luck with your sale.
