Kevin Dean Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 interesting to see JJ using a Mark King Head , When I thought the transformers were supposed to be different ? Having said that the EQ shape is different . Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 If JJ says he`s Mark King, he`s Mark King. I`m not telling him otherwise! Quote
Hes using it for the 4 x 10 & the ABM for the 1 x 15 , personally I think you can get just as good a sound with just the ABM . Quote
markorbit Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Maybe his black ones are in for a service or something? I would guess it's exactly the same amp. I think the JJ ones available to the public are tweaked a little. Quote
doctorbass Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I've got one of the original 10 JJ500's (non signature / non rat logo) - not played a MK but the JJ is a pretty potent head, very clean, loads of grunt and a lot of tones in that 12 band EQ. I agree with Lozz - wouldn't disagree with JJ.... Quote
super al Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Changed his tune (so to speak), I remember JJ dissing the Mark King style and sound a few years ago in BG magazine. I'll dig it out for exact quote Quote

Kevin Dean Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Both of them are great in my opinion in there own way . It does make me laugh when people have said Ashdown stuff sounds muddy & then these guys use them Quote
super al Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Both used Trace back in the day so the MK500 follows that tradition. Found the quote from '04. "I once told Mark King, 'the trouble with your band is you need a bass player!'" Fair enough Quote
Guest gazzatriumph Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Does'nt Mark King now use TC Electronics a RH750 Edited June 2, 2015 by gazzatriumph Quote
