BassBalls
The cab i am reviewing is the DR Bass 2460D 4ohm 1000watt cab. [attachment=12639:DSCF0358.JPG] Features: 10 This cab is packed full of features, Its has two neo 12” speakers with a 6.5” midrange speaker and high frequency compression horn. There is also a volume knob and crossover to control the volume of the horn and midrange driver. Being that my cab is the deep version it goes all the way down to 37Hz and up to 20kHz! Im not sure what the cab is covered in but all I know is that its very hard and tough, no carpet or vinyl to rip. Its amazingly light at 23.5kg and easy to carry, an easy one man lift. The handles are made out of metal and very sturdy which is a nice change because im fed up of lifting cabs where I think the handle is going to give way! All of this for less than £500 is amazing. Sound Quality: 9 Compared with other 2x12 cabs and 1x15 cabs I have used in the past, this is easily the best. I have not heard anything that is as tight as this. The low end is strong and punchy which cuts through very well. The midrange driver and horn work very well together and bring to life your bass tone. This is true at all volumes, I have often been disappointed with cabs which sound great in the bedroom but sound awful at a practice volume. This cab does not disappoint, it sounds great at all volumes. Im not going to lie and say it sounds as big as an 8x10 but its pretty close, being that its 24.25" tall, 20.75" wide,17.5"deep and 1000watts, its defiantly a very good small single cab solution to those of you who does not have the space or transport to own an 8x10. Reliability: 10 I have owned it for a few months and its always worked fine. Customer Support: 10 I bought the cab from Robbie at RIM custom basses and he is a very good bloke to deal with. He replies quickly to both PM and email messages. If you are considering buying from Robbie but unsure of having the cab shipped don’t be. I had mine shipped and it arrived extremely well packed with foam sheets and thick cardboard. Overall Rating: 9 This cab is a freak of nature. I don’t really understand how a cab so small and light can sound so big and full. It’s very sturdy and solid, which will defiantly withstand touring. I can see this cab in the future filling up backlines all over the world.
