Would love to have the resources for this exquisite instrument. Droolworthy! Quote
spectoremg Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Don't know much about these but it looks like they got the pickup in the right place! Quote
3below Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 If you want a USA built bass G&L still represent excellent value. Compare 80s Fender prices against 80s G&L. Then look at the actual basses and features such as bilaminate neck, cast bridge and metal crackle scratchplate. The 'smaller' SB1 body is very comfortable for those of us who are vertically challenged. Quote
Delberthot Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 BIN is £589 Granted there will be shipping and customs charges but still. I've never understood why G&L basses are so much cheaper than Musicman ones, to me they are an evolution of the Stingray and I prefer the sound of them. Quote
solo4652 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 L-1000's have a bit of a reputation for developing "ski-jump" and/or warped necks. Potential buyers should ask lots of questions to satisfy themselves that the neck is straight and unwarped, and that the truss rod works properly in both directions. Quote
cameltoe Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I would love another G&L, but I want a lightweight one. I had a 1993 USA L2000. Was great, but is anybody else suspicious of micro tilt? To me it's almost like saying 'we've probably cocked this up, so here's another adjustment you can make to sort it out'. The best basses I've owned have never needed any adjustment to neck angle. spectoremg Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 It's be specific day! I don't know much about the history and construction of these basses, but it looks like Mr Clarence Leonidas 'Leo' Fender and his design team got the pickup in the right place! Quote
