lowdown
If you would like a really lovely expressive Solo Cello (a very smooth legato patch included). Grab it here, and best of all.... It's FREE... A couple of demo tracks up on the site as well. http://vstbuzz.com/freebies/pocketblakus-cello/ Edited June 6, 2015 by lowdown
Mornats
Sweet, just downloading it now. Dunno if it's just for the full version of Kontakt or if it'll work on the free player but I'll report back...
Mornats
It does indeed work on the free Kontakt player although it looks in the wrong folder for the sample files so you have to manually tell it where they are each time.
lowdown
Do a batch re-save, and it will then find it every time. Same with any vendor patch that does not load up in the libraries tab. Also, if you save as a pre- set it will do a quick load without asking for a location. Or of course, just save as a quick load patch (after the initial folder find, it will always locate it). To batch re-save. On the top bar in Kontakt, click on - Files - scroll to the bottom and click on batch re-save, Point to where the folder is placed. That's it. It's the same for any patch that Kontakt asks for location.
Mornats
Hmm, I did that and now the Cello VI is saying the demo timed out. Hmpfh. I wonder if it does indeed need the full Kontakt player.
ras52
Great find, thanks! And thanks for the tech tips too... to load the legato instrument, I had to point Konkakt (5, full version) to the correct 1.6 folder for some files it was expecting in a 1.5 folder, and the batch re-save fixed that. When loading the spiccato instrument a "UI Files" folder is reported missing, though if I skip that warning the instrument loads up OK with the basic UI. Is there some online doc that describes the functions of the five special keys a the top of the keyboard? I worked out that C5 legato/polyphonic and E5 toggles round robin on/off, but I can't work out the others do.
lowdown
Well, with mod wheel use for dynamics, and the key switching (upper keyboard), it is a very responsive patch when played in. Very playable indeed. The character is great, some noises in there as well (sounds like the bow hitting the body). Mornats
Have you tried any of their other freebies? http://vstbuzz.com/freebies/
lowdown
Some more freebies here. Solo Viola Lite. It's ok and very usable. http://northernscoring.com/viola.html And a lite version of the Friedlander Solo Violin (part of a free bundle with some great sounds). It's also worth checking out the other freebies on the Embertone site (they do some very expressive Instruments, the full paid versions are excellent value). http://embertone.com/instruments/arcane.php

http://vstbuzz.com/freebies/
Feroyn's Flute is great for Fantasy time passages. Not tried the others, but I will down load them, these things always come in handy at some point. Cheers for the link.
