tedmanzie
Has anyone here had one of these and changed the pickups/electronics? I think it's a 1983 SQ. I had an old med scale Squire precision of similar era (84/5 I think) and changed pickups and all electronics and it sounded great (I stupidly sold it). My old JV P-Bass strung with TI-Flats and all original electronics sounds great. This SQ sounds good (strung with DR rounds), not as good as the JV, but it's hard to compare what with them having different strings... stinson
I've got a black/rosewood SQ p. I'm going to be purchasing a pure vintage 63 pickup or failing that another Wizard Trad hopefully soon. Already put a Kiogon loom in and that beefed up the tone nicely.

[/quote] It still does, Ted, especially re-united with those old strings. Sorry, couldn't resist....

Delberthot
I put 1/4 pounders in my SQ when I had it as I didn't like the stock pickups and I was playing in a Black Sabbath tribute band at the time
King Tut
I loved the tone of that bass. . . It is my old one isn't it? Nice and warm. Just couldn't get on with the neck!

New pots and wiring from KiOgon, and I might try some new pickups to see if they make much difference.
